So before we get too deep into the story, I want to share feel called to share my why.
My dream, my purpose, my deepest desire.
What this new chapter entails. How I plan to trust, to listen, to be flexible yet firm, to set myself up for success without losing myself in the process.
Experience joy while also building my foundation.
So I introduce you to “The Field Life Project” 2027.
It is not a ridged checklist, but instead a reminder of goals. Of feelings I want to fully experience. Of the life that I know deep down in my soul is where I am meant to be.
The goal is to build a life where responsibilities and freedom co-exist.
I have a whole detailed layout, and it typical nerd fashion, plan to put in a binder. But for now I’ll spare you those and share with you the mission. I am not sure how I will accomplish it yet, but that is a part of the journey, right? For now, I’m trusting what my body asks for when I wake up…work, rest, create, etc, without fear of being judged or seen as unworthy.
Create a life where my kids and I experience:
- history by standing where it happened.
- biology by touching the ecosystem.
- geography by crossing it.
- culture by meeting people.
- writing by documenting what we see.
- photography by learning to observe.
- responsibility by helping each other in our community.
- building a career that matters.
The how, is not so poetic, but I am including it as accountability.
By September of 2027 I want to:
- have 75%+ of current $12,000 debt paid
- A dedicated emergency fund
- A dedicated vehicle fund
- Personal savings
- Savings accounts for both kids
- Several months of demonstrated income history
- A portable photography/creative business
- A roadschooling framework
- A tested travel routine
- A vehicle I’ve actually lived in temporarily before committing to extended travel
- A first route planned
- Financial, mental, and physical independence
Over the next few months I will be exploring things that bring me joy and make me feel whole. Photography is absolutely a part of my calling, but I think I was leaning too much on it. Forgetting my other passions.
I will be working on projects focused on conservation storytelling, anthropology/culture research, photography/documentary, women’s work/somatics, and environmental education.
To find my purpose, is to find my path to alignment.
